Walking distance from campus: Residences are on campus, with the exception of Friel (16 minutes), Rideau (12 minutes), and Henderson (7 minutes).

Traveling to Ottawa

There are many travel options for getting to Ottawa.

By Train: The train station is located at 200 Tremblay Rd – only a six minute taxi ride away from the campus of the University of Ottawa. OC Trnspo (public transit) bus number 92 or 96 will also get you right to campus.

Via Rail - “Discount Tuesdays” – cheaper tickets can be purchased on Tuesdays. “Youth” discounts (ages 12-25) are also available.

By Bus: The bus station, Ottawa Central Station, is located just a seven minute cab ride from campus, at 265 Catherine Street.

 Greyhound – Student discounts available.

By Air: The Ottawa International Airport, 1000 Airport Parkway Private, is an 18 minute drive away form campus, but there are a number of ways to get from there to downtown.

Uber cars can now be ordered at the airport. Pick up is conveniently located at the rideshare loading zone, located at Pillars 12 and 13 on the Arrivals level along the outer lane.

OC Transpo bus can be taken (Route 97). Taxis are available at the airport as well. For more information, see YOW Transportation.

Rideshare/carpool: Can be searched though Kijiji Ottawa. Many different Facebook groups also exist

Passport Information

Conference attendees coming in from outside Canada will need to present a valid passport at the border when traveling in and out of the country. The following link leads to a map of embassies in Canada and passport information through Ottawa Tourism.

Attendees can also review basic requirements for entering Canada, entry documents, and information for determining eligibility for entrance into Canada through this government website.

Getting around Ottawa

By Taxi: The two major taxi companies in Ottawa are BlueLine (613-238-1111) and Capital Taxi (613-744-3333).  Uber is also available in Ottawa, though it does not pick up at the airport.

By Rental Car: Most major North American car rental companies operate in Ottawa, most of which are located at the airport.

By Public Transportation: OCTranspo offers bus and light rail service throughout the greater Ottawa area, and into parts of Gatineau (across the river in Quebec, which has its own transportation system, Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO).
