Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you all know about upcoming SCRA Biennial events for
people interested in LGBT issues and networking with others interested
in these same issues. These events have been coordinated by the SCRA
LGBT Interest Group.

First, there will be an LGBT public policy roundtable on Friday
(6/17/11) 4:30-5:45 in Roosevelt University room 244. Clinton
Anderson, Gary Harper, Rich Jenkins, David Munar, Maria Valenti, and
myself are listed on the panel, but we hope to have many more voices

Second, there will be an LGBT interest group lunch/business meeting on
Saturday (6/18/11) from 12pm to 1pm in Roosevelt University room 320.

Third, there will be an LGBT Night Out dinner on Saturday (6/18/11) at
7pm. Anyone interested can meet up with the group in the lobby of the
Fairmont hotel at 6:15pm to take public transit or meet us all at the
restaurant at 7:00. We will begin by having dinner a Las Mananitas
(, which is an LGBT Mexican restaurant in
Boystown--Chicago's LGBT neighborhood (although I'm sure many would
argue that it is more G than LB&T). Anyone interested in checking out
a local Boystown club can head over to Roscoe's (

Lastly, we still working on securing placards from some past Chicago
GLBT Hall of Fame inductees. Chicago has the only city-sponsored LGBT
hall of fame in the country. The local Gerber/Hart Library has
graciously agreed to let us borrow placards of past inductees that
display the person/organization's picture and a brief biography about
them. We are still working on a final commitment from Gerbert/Hart and
a location to display them at the Biennial, but look out for 3'x4'
placards displayed on easels.

We hope to see many of you there,

Christopher Beasley, M.A.
Community Psychology, Ph.D. Candidate
