The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), is seeking one or more individuals for an advanced position of Social Science Research Analyst.   The primary responsibilities of the position are to evaluate policy impacts, assess program costs, as well as analyze operational and participation trends related to the Agency’s 15 nutrition assistance programs (e.g., the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly the Food Stamp Program), National School Lunch and WIC programs).   These programs provide nutrition assistance to millions of Americans.   Research analysts play an important role in providing information to policy makers. The positions are located in Alexandria, VA, and the salary range is $69,764 to $107,854. Applicants   must meet the specialized experience listed in the “qualifications” section of the vacancy announcement which includes experience designing or conducting formative, process, and/or impact evaluations of Federal or State government programs for domesticlow-income and/or vulnerable populations and applying social science research methods such asstatistical sampling, research design, development of measures to answer research questions (such as survey questionnaires), data collection as part of a statistically representative survey of a statewide or national sample and/or statistical analysis.
