Brief description of duties:

The State University of New York College at Old Westbury invites applications for a tenure-track position in Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective Fall 2015. The Psychology Department especially values candidates with a critical orientation to psychology, an interest in the application of psychology to issues of social justice and experience in work with diverse student populations. The successful candidate will have experience in biological psychology with the ability to relate biological psychology to other sub-disciplines in psychology and to social issues; augment existing faculty expertise and course offerings in biological psychology, neuroscience and neuropsychology as well as department offerings in research methods and introductory psychology courses.


Candidates must possess a Doctorate in Psychology in hand or have an anticipated completion date of August 1, 2014 or sooner. An emphasis on or orientation in health psychology, and/or biology of aging or biopsychology of brain injuries and cognitive deficits and/or rehabilitation psychology (including cognitive rehabilitation) is strongly desirable. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
