Citywide Youth Coalition (CWYC) is a network of over 500 youth-serving staff, community stakeholders and individuals in the New Haven urban region working together to build a courageous community in which all youth can succeed.
CWYC supports the youth sector and provides leadership with coalition members and partners on issues of youth voice, youth leadership and youth-led social justice.
We need to see real change among the outcomes with young people in the community. The only way to achieve the transformational changes needed is to include young people and adults in co-creating the services, supports and opportunities that young people need to be successful in life.

Position
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for CWYC staff (paid and volunteer), programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. S/he will develop deep knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and strategic plans.
Responsibilities
Leadership & Management:
Maintain and build a coalition of youth-serving organizations and stakeholders
Nurture a community of high-quality youth development programs
Actively engage and energize CWYC volunteers, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders
Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors: serve as ex-officio of each committee, seek and build board involvement with strategic direction for both ongoing local operations, as well as other potential partners of the organization
Develop and maintain effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents
Fundraising & Communications:
Expand fundraising activities to support existing program operations and potential expansion
Increase and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations—with the goal of creating a stronger brand and garnering new opportunities
Serve as a spokesperson for the successes of youth and youth serving organizations
Be an external presence that publishes and communicates results with an emphasis on the successes of the youth and youth service organization as a result of CWYC collaborative efforts
Planning & New Business:
Execute, develop and improve established strategic plan
Build partnerships beyond the coalition’s current limits, establishing relationships with the funders, and political and community leaders with an eye towards CWYC impact
Qualifications:
The ED will be thoroughly committed to advancing CWYC's mission and values. Develop deep alignment of work and values with member organizations that will ensure that members and youth are fully engaged in leading and supporting CWYC mission. Accomplished by proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Other qualifications include:
Unwavering commitment in the values of CWYC and belief that all youth can succeed.
Bachelor’s degree required; Graduate degree in related field preferred; three to five years of experience and knowledge in youth development sector
Track record of effectively leading a youth sector organization and/or program
Experience in organizational, leadership, strategic thinking and planning, ability to coach staff (paid and volunteer), manage and develop teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
Past success working with a Board of Directors, with the ability to cultivate existing and new board member relationships
Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to youth development practices, programs and services
Ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously; flexible and able to attend community meetings/events after office hours and on weekends
Proficiency in Microsoft programs (including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint), QuickBooks, social media, basic web publishing, online fundraising and organizing tools
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
