Postdoctoral Associate, Intimate Partner Violence, Yale University
The Family Violence Research Lab, headed by Tami P. Sullivan, Ph.D., studies individual- and system-level factors that affect the wellbeing of victims of intimate partner violence (IPV), with specific attention to daily processes and micro-longitudinal designs. At the individual level, research aims to advance understanding of the relationships among IPV and its highly prevalent negative outcomes such as posttraumatic stress, substance use, and sexual risk in an effort to develop preventive interventions that promote safety and resilience. At the systems-level, the lab conducts IPV research and evaluation within the criminal justice system, HIV service system, and other service systems. Research focuses on the impact of the system’s response on victims’ wellbeing including the ways in which it promotes or impedes victims’ safety, recovery and resilience. Research is developed and conducted in collaboration with community partners.
The postdoctoral associate will contribute to multiple grant-funded studies on IPV and will be responsible for conducting research central to the Lab’s focus, including recruiting, screening and interviewing study participants; developing quality assurance and improvement reports for each project and utilize data to drive decision-making processes; support the professional development of research assistants; assist in the preparation of grant applications or other funding opportunities; and with the Principal Investigator and other contributors, author peer-reviewed research publications. The Associate will receive strong mentorship in further developing their own, independent program of research, grant development and manuscript development. The candidate should have demonstrated experience collecting original data, advanced quantitative analytic skills, experience in database management, and preferably, experience engaging in efforts to promote resilience among victims of IPV. Qualifications include a PhD in psychology (clinical, counseling, or community), social work or related discipline. Applicants must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
